The Serial Keeper is a program that saves information about software, you put in the info, and hit add, and it saves the info to a database type file. The main use for The Serial Keeper is just that, keeping track of serial numbers for software you own, be it shareware, commercial, control panel, extension, whatever, if it has a serial number, you can store it using The Serial Keeper.
What features are there?
Database Preferences:
Password protection for each database. So if you share the computer with others, you don't want them to know your serial numbers, you can put a password on the database, and they can to, unless you protect the default file.
There are sounds for all the major features, like, add, delete, find, login (if the password was right), access denied (if the password was entered wrong after 3 tries), and alarm, this sounds after access denied. All the sounds can be turned off individually.
A default name and company, you can put your name, and your company's name in, and when you add a record, TSK will put those names in, unless there's text there, if there is, then it'll use that text instead. This feature can be turned off.
Program Preferences:
Default file name, and location. So you specify a name to use for the default file, and any new databases you create (you can change the name in the save dialog of course), and you can also change the location for the default file, so if you would rather have it in the same folder as TSK. To move the default file that's in the TSK prefs, that's in the preferences folder (in the system folder), move to the folder that you want, or make a new database, and select that.
Window positions. You can have TSK save the position of both the Toolbar, and the Software stored list window. You can also save the size of the software stored list window.
How can I add records, delete record, etc.?
There are three ways (yes 3) to do database functions. One way is to use the toolbar, but if you don't like using a toolbar, or have limited screen space, you can use the second way, the Database Functions menu, which is in the edit menu. Don't like going all the way up to menu bar? Well, then there's the third way, the contextual menu (Mac OS 8 and later), all three have the same functions.
As you can see, almost everything is self-explanatory, and this Read Me isn't really needed, but I like to explain a lot.
Why did you make this, and why did it take so long for 2.0?
Well, I (and probably a lot of others) like to keep track of stuff like that, in case we lose the piece of paper, email, or what have you. And what better way to save info about a program then to put it in another program. As for the long time between 1.0 and 2.0, I started work on other programs, but didn't finish them, and so I took a break, and now I'll be making more programs.
Speaking of making programs, can you make me a custom program?
Sure, for a fee. The fee would be $25 to $100 (US dollars) and would be determined by me, depending on how long it would take to make the program, and how complex it is. I will be fair, I wont charge $100 for the heck of it, most of the time, I'll probably charge $25. If your interested, please contact me.
Macs tested on.
Unfortunately, TSK 2.0 has only been tested on newer Macs, so an old Mac, might have trouble with TSK, if you have an old Mac, and have used TSK 2.0 on there, please let me know if it works good. Also, TSK has only been tested on Mac OS 7.5, but should work under older systems, but with some limitations. Why is this you may ask, well, its because all my testers only have new Macs running the newest system. If anyone would like to volunteer for beta testing for future programs, please email me with your system config. Not everyone will be selected to test, but will get a chance to be a tester.

This is a License Agreement which is agreed upon with usage of The Serial Keeper.
Usage:
1. I (Steven Byrd or Me) hereby give the user the right to use The Serial Keeper (TSK) to only save information about software they have paid for, ether shareware or commercial. TSK is not made to save information about illegal, pirated serial numbers, and I DO NOT AUTHORIZE THE USER TO USE TSK FOR THAT USE.
2. TSK can be used only if it has not been modified, or reversed compiled.
Distribution:
1. You can freely distribute TSK as long as this document has not been modified, and is included with TSK, and that TSK has not been modified or reversed compiled.
2. TSK can be distributed on CDs, with other software as long as I am notified, and I give permission to do so.
Ownership:
1. The rights to TSK are owned by me, and me alone.
